The Workshop as a side programme project of the “Quartet” Association
If the idea behind the “Quartet” Association’s Festival is to compare different artistic and production procedures, where the public presentation of such differences becomes a stimulus for creators and producers, as well as local theatre audiences, then the conception of the Workshop which will be held within the Festival side programme is to establish a new creative system of communication. Thus, this programme has a potential of becoming a possible focal point and the very essence for the existence of the “Quartet” Association.
The Workshop will be organised during certain editions of the “Quartet” Association’s Festival, but also at separate sessions, and it will be led by French director Laurent Maindon, with the assistance of dramaturges Péter Jónás from Hungary and Aleksandar Milosavljević from Serbia.
The method of the Workshop will be based on the gradual development of a dramatic situation through a process of improvisations and tasks the director will be putting before the actors and dramaturges.
The point of the Workshop lies primarily in a joint effort by teams from different cultural and theatrical traditions, in defining similarities and differences characterising different habits and procedures applied when working on a production, while the wider purpose of this cooperation lies in an attempt to establish a universal “glossary” of terms that can be shared by the Czech, the Hungarians, the Serbs and the French.
Such a universal “glossary” is a much more powerful tool in linking and joining, than different languages and different theatrical traditions in hindering the cooperation. Therefore, a “glossary” of theatrical tools which is to be established during the Workshop can become a good and solid base for future forms of the most direct collaboration among the members of the “Quartet” Association.
The project participants are: two actors from each place - Cheb, Eger, Novi Sad and Ancenis. |
